Guidance and Counseling

 

The Guidance and Counseling Program at San Juan Hills High School seeks to postively impact the lives of our students by partnering with parents, community, faculty and staff.  Our program offers comprehensive planning and guidance services addressing student academic and career goals, as well as personal and social needs.  We work to give students the opportunities to acquire the educational and social competencies necessary for their growth toward lifelong success and effective, responsible citizenship for a diverse and changing world.

Roles and Responsibilities

 

 

Assistant Principal of Guidance and Curriculum  Administrator - Manages/Oversees the Guidance Program, Master Schedule and Curriculum, State-wide Testing, Student and Staff Services.

Academic Advisors

Class Scheduling/Master Schedule,  Monitoring Graduation Requirements, High School Personal Learning Plans, CAHSEE, Post-Secondary Options, State-Wide Testing, College Entrance Requirements, College Application Process, College Admissions Testing, Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Counselor

Academic Difficulties and Intervention, Short Term/Crisis Counseling, Stallion Certificate Program, Community Resource Referrals, Conflict Mediation, Student Study Team (SST) Meeting Coordinator, Home Hospital Instruction Coordinator, and Section 504 Coordinator.   

ROP Career Specialist  

Career/Technical Preparation to Meet Needs of Industry and Workplace, Hands-On Learning Experience, Job Shadowing and Internships, Work Permits, College and Career Guidance, College Visits and Job Preparation (resumes and interviews)

Registrar

Enrollment Services for New Students, Student Transfer and Disenrollment Information, Academic  Records and Transcripts, Faculty and Staff Support.

School Psychologist

Student Services; Special Education; Academic Intervention.

Hearing/Speech Therapist

Student Services; Special Education; Academic Intervention

AVID Coordinator

Coordinates AVID program, working with students to gain the necessary skills for university study.

ELD Coordinator

Coordinates EL program providing services for students with English as a second language. 

AAA/GATE Coordinator

Works with students with Accelerated Academic Achievement (AAA).
